Princeton, W.Va., January 15 - After an illness of nearly a year, Hon. James Hearn, one of the widest-known citizens of the county, died at his home at Princeton yesterday morning at 2:30 o'clock. He had been in extremis for the past ten days, and his death was not unexpected. James Hearn was born June 10, 1839 and was therefore nearly seventy-four years of age. He enjoyed good health until his late illness and was recognized as one of the most active men in the county. He was a son of Levi Griffin Hearn and was born in what is now Mercer county. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters: Andrew J. of Bluefield; A.G. of Princeton; Mrs. J.T. Akers of Bluefield; and Mrs. Thomas Via of this county. He is also survived by four brothers and two sisters: Andrew, L.L., John and Henry Hearn; Mrs. Sarah Phipps and Mrs. Martha A. Little. He was a member of the Methodist Church and died in the triumphant hope of happiness hereafter.
