William Roske Succumbs to the Dread Disease
William Roske died at the Sisters' hospital Thurday night of spotted fever. He was brought to Missoula from his ranch near Florence less than a week ago.
Mr. Roske, was a prominent Grand Army man and an active worker in the organization. He was vice commander of Garfield Post, Mo. 26, at Florence and despite his sixty odd years was wont to ride five miles on horseback at night to attend the meetings, his home being at McKeen's Spur, five miles from Florence. He served during the civil war in Battery F., Second Minnesota heavy artillery, and participated in the fighting at Perryville, Luka, and other notable battles of the rebellion.
Mr. Roske was 63 years old. He removed to Florence from Great Falls eight years ago.
He leaves a wife, five sons and two daughters. The younger members of the family are all grown up and one daughter is married, Mrs. Albert Hepp of Florence. He was in comfortable circumstances and besides owning a valuable ranch near Florence, has other property at Great Falls.
The funeral will be held from Marsh brothers' undertaking rooms tomorrow afternoon, under the auspices of Fred Winthrop Post No. 11 of Missoula. The Rev. H. E. Rossell of the Christian church will officiate.
