William "Bill" David Drake Sr.
July 31, 1956 - January 9, 2021
Nipomo, California - Bill, son of the late Henry "Hank" Ford Drake and the late Alma Del Orr, passed away due to complications of Covid-19 on Saturday, January 9th, 2021, at Marian Hospital in Santa Maria, California, at 64 years old. "Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory."
Bill was born in Long Beach, California, in July of 1956 as the first of three children. He and his family made the Central Coast of California their home in 1963. Bill spent his 40-year career at Diablo Canyon Power Plant. He loved and cared about his work family and was very dedicated to a career he loved.
Bill loved his family deeply and was always willing to serve everyone he could. Bill also loved fishing, camping, and cooking Santa Maria BBQ. He enjoyed trips to Disneyland with his family and loved to relax, vacationing in South Lake Tahoe.
Bill was an Air Force Veteran. He loved his country and had the utmost respect for those who sacrifice by serving and protecting our nation. He was a lifetime member of the Pismo Beach Moose Lodge 1409, Moose Legion 214. His favorite part of his membership at the Moose Lodge was contributing to Moose Charities. Bill was also a Master Mason in King David's Lodge No. 209.
Bill is survived by his wife Rhonda Drake, married for 45 years, Bill Drake Jr. (Inger) of Eloy, Arizona, daughters Sharon Pope (Buddy) of Henderson, Nevada, and Kelly Ortega (Frank) of Nipomo, California. He is also survived by his brother Brian Drake (Cathy) of Paso Robles, California, and sister Pamela Batey of Santa Maria, California. Bill leaves behind a wonderful legacy, survived by his seven grandchildren Austin Drake, Kendall Drake, Hayleigh Pope, Logan Pope, Ryan Ortega, Nathan Ortega, and Sarah Ortega.
Due to the current Covid Pandemic, a gathering of friends and family to celebrate Bill's life, will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Moose Charities.
