John W. Miller, age 77, passed away peacefully from this life into eternal life on Friday, January 22, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. John was born February 19, 1943 in Escatawpa, MS, his lifelong hometown. He retired from Ingalls Shipyard in 2002 after 38 years, and he ran a beloved nursery business out of the house that he built. John was a family-driven man and a gentle soul who will be missed dearly by many.
Mr. Miller is preceded in death by his parents, Valery “Bud” Brooks and Lurette (Furby) Miller, and his brother, Valery “Todd” Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Louise (Hubbard) Miller; children, Audra (Scott) Kramer, Lora (Charles) Dean, Rita (Scott) Bailey, and Brian (Christy) Miller; grandchildren, Jordan, Landon and Braden, Morgan, Mallory, Makenzie, and Lori Beth, Macy, Noah, and Isabella; sister-in-law, Linda Miller, along with other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Brian Miller and Bro. Steve Cirlot officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Four Mile Creek Cemetery.
The family would like to send a special note of appreciation to Jennifer Bradley for going above and beyond to ensure the comfort of both John and his family in their final days together.
Due to the concerns surrounding Covid-19, masks are required to attend the services.
