Randall Scott Vaiden, 30, went to be with his Lord and Savior unexpectedly Oct. 10, 2007. He was born Dec. 2, 1976, in Fairfax County, Virginia. Randy is survived by Wendy Carter Vaiden, his loving wife of five years and his precious boys, Drew, 2 1/2 and Carter, 14 months. He is also survived by his proud parents, Charles and Elsie Vaiden and two sisters, Paula Vaiden Hill and her husband Terence and Karen Vaiden. He is also survived by his grandmother, Elizabeth T. Vaiden and by loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and many wonderful friends and colleagues. Randy was a graduate of Kempsville High School and Old Dominion University. He was employed by the Virginia Beach Police Department since January 2002 and had been a school resource officer at Green Run High School since February 2005. Randy has always enjoyed working with young people. He was an active member of Kempsville Baptist Church where he was instrumental in helping start the Upward Basketball Program for boys and girls in the community. Randy was an avid Tarheel fan who loved to participate in sports, fishing, and woodworking. Above all that he loved are his two precious sons whom he cherished dearly. A funeral will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Kempsville Baptist Church with Dr. Kelley J. Burris officiating. The burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Randy Vaiden Memorial Fund, c/o any branch of the Bank of Hampton Roads, or any Virginia Beach Police Department precinct.
