TORRINGTON — Ted Hazzard, 66, of 15 Planet St., died Oct. 10, 2007, as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Born in Winsted Aug. 12, 1941, son of the late Merton and Gladys Raydenbow Hazzard, he attended local schools. He owned and operated Ted's Appliance Repair Service in Torrington for 30 years. He worked seven days a week at his business and loved to spend time home with his fiancé watching Red Sox games and enjoying football.
He leaves his fiancé, Vickey LaFountain of Torrington; a daughter, Veronica Skinzera and husband, Tony, of Bristol; stepchildren Thomas Wheeler and girlfriend, Jessie Consolini, of Goshen, and Michael LaFountain of Canaan; and grandchildren Amber Skinzera, and Aiden and Mackenzie Wheeler. He also leaves sisters Janet Stack, and Nancy Goulet and husband, Rob, of Winsted; many friends, especially the LaMonica family; as well as several nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly Hazzard, a son, Roger Hazzard, a stepson, Christopher LaFountain, a brother, Jim Hazzard, in-laws, Charles and Inez LaFountain, as well as his best friend, Wayne Dean.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct 16, from Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.

LITCHFIELD - A popular Torrington business owner was killed Wednesday night after his van collided with a utility pole on Town Farm Road in Litchfield, state police said.
Theodore "Ted" Hazzard, 66, of 15 Planet St., was driving north on Town Farm Road at about 9:45 p.m. when his 1997 GMC Savanna veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole. State police from Troop L in Litchfield responded to the scene where Hazzard was pronounced dead, according to a police report. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The passenger, Vickey Lafountain, 42, of 24 Starview Road, Torring-ton, was taken to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington by ambulance for non-life threatening injuries. She could not be reached for comment Thursday.
