DIES SUDDENLY MONDAY
Last Rites This Thursday Afternoon
at Tretheway Funeral Home
Funeral services for Mrs. Lura Mae Hancock, 37, wife of Edward Hancock, who passed away very suddenly at the farm home southwest of Dunlap at about 12:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, were held at 2 o'clock this Thursday afternoon at the Tretheway funeral home in Princeville, in charge of Rev. A. A. Rodgers, pastor of the Princeville M. E. church. Interment was in Prospect cemetery, Dunlap.
Obituary
Lura Mae Rown, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. George Rown, was born May 9, 1901, in Davis county, Iowa, and departed this world at 12:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, March 20, 1939, at the age of 37 years, 10 months and 1 days.
On September 26, 1923, she was united in marriage to Edward Hancock of Peoria, Ill., the ceremony being performed at Ottumwa, Iowa. To this union two children were born: a daughter, Gwendolyn Enora and a son, Edward Willard.
Mrs. Hancock found her greatest joy in her home and family and always lived for others, rather than for self. Though in poor health for the past several months, she tried to the very last to take her full share of responsibilities about the home.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Hancock, their thirteen-year-old daughter, Gwendolyn Elnora, and eight-year-old son, Edward Willard; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. George Rown, and also several uncles and aunts in Iowa and one uncle in Mexico.
