Ralph was an insurance agent, and in 1936 moved to Charlottetown, PEI to be associated with A. Horne & Co. in 1940 he joined Confederation Life Insurance Co. and served as general agent until his retirement in 1966. He was a first cousin of Blanche Coes Britten, and affectionately known to Ted Britten as "Uncle Ralph."
