Ella E. (Stortz) Stokes, 89, formerly of Ross Township and Johnstown, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012. She was the loving mother of Shelby (James) Carmack, of Maryland, Ned. H. (Marian) Stokes Jr., of Greensburg, James K. (Linda) Stokes, of Kentucky, Timothy G. (Judy) Stokes, of Ben Avon, Jay K. Stokes, of Reserve Township, and Leslie J. (Roy) Grimm, of Shaler Township; former wife of Ned H. Stokes Sr.; sister of Elsie A. Minana, of Johnstown, Ernest Stortz, of Arizona, and the late Freida Thomas; also survived by 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Ella was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, West View Chapter. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 920 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15237, followed by interment at 2 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown.
