She was born December 10, 1938, in Weston, West Virginia, to parents Erlo and Dolly Pearl (Teter) Smith. Velma was a former member of the Louisa Jane Methodist Church in Weston. She was a kind woman who worked for over 30 years as a nursing assistant and home health aide.
Velma is survived by her son, daughter-in-law, grandson and one great-granddaughter, one brother and his wife, one step-brother and two step-sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Wilma Joan Irwin, her brothers Bill, Bob and Don Smith, and her step-brother Jack Rush.
