Joe was born October 18, 1930, in New Holland, Ohio to Ross and Ida Virginia Jones Ankrom. He was a 1949 graduate of New Holland High School and lived most of his life in New Holland before moving to Washington Court House in 2006.
He retired in 1992, as a 35-year employee of Dupont in Circleville.
Joe was an active member of the New Holland United Methodist Church for many years until his health limited his participation.
On October 7, 1950, he married the love of his life, the former Martha Jane Justice. She preceded him in death on November 20, 2015. He was also preceded by his parents; six brothers and a sister. He was most proud that five of his brothers served during World War II and the Korean War.
Surviving Joe are his children, Larry (Suzann) Ankrom of Wilmington, North Carolina, Pat (Deb) Ankrom of Dublin, Ohio, Pam (Greg) Ellenberger of Washington Court House, and Barry (Bonnie) Ankrom of Grove City. His life was brightened by his nine grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren with another on the way. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Iris Ankrom of Huntington, West Virginia and Clara Justice of Georgetown, Texas.
Burial will follow in the New Holland Cemetery.
