Charles Ormund Stafford, who died here on Sept 20, and whose funeral was attended from his late residence on the 22d, was born in this place March 1, 1832, son of Ormund and Aurelia Doty Stafford. He was married to Lucinda M. Bryant, December 3, 1856 in Sudbury, Vt. Three children were born to them. Fred, who died young, Frank O., of Rutland, and Lillie, now Mrs. F. G. Ritchie of New York city, who with his wife, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, survive him. His occupation was farming. Had always lived in town, and for 40 years, on the place where he died. His health had been falling for years, but his last illness was of about 12 days duration. Through his failing years, he was watched over and tenderly cared for by his wife - patient and faithful to a degree, and so appreciated by him, a man devoted to his home and family. His wife and children were with him to the last and constant care was his portion. The loving, sympathy of a wide circle of friends and neighbors is extended to the wife. She goes with her daughter to New York city, for the present. Floral offerings were tendered; Rev. Walter Thorpe officiated; burial in Wallingford cemetery.
