Suggested edit: Mrs. Nathan Paine, 100, a founding member of the Paine Art Center and Arboretum, died Monday morning in Redlands, Calif., where she had been living with a sister, Mrs. Elbert W. Shirk. Services will be held in private in Redlands on Wednesday, followed by cremation. Inurnment will be in the Paine mausoleum at Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh. A memorial service will be held later.

Mr. Paine, president of Paine Lumber Co. from 1917 until his death in 1947, Mrs. Paine and her sister made the show place Art Center and Arboretum possible. It was opened to the public in 1948. In 1965 she was honored by the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects for her part in establishing and endowing the center.

The former Jessie Kimberly was born in Neenah on Oct. 22, 1872, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Kimberly, and was married to Nathan Paine on April 8, 1896. They resided in Oshkosh during their married life, and after the Art Center was opened moved to La Jolla, Calif., continuing as president of the center's board of trustees.

Her sister is the only immediate survivor.
