Gertrude Naomi "Nancy" McNair Braziel
Monday, October 8th, 1928 - Wednesday, January 27th, 2021

Nancy Braziel was born October 8, 1928 in Sharpsville, PA. She passed away January 27, 2021 after waging a valiant fight against Covid-19 pneumonia.

She was a long-time resident of Arlington, Texas. She also lived in Orange County, California for 13 years before returning to Texas in 2013.

Nancy sang and played piano in a vibrant, happy Southern gospel style that delighted all who heard her and she continued to do so until the end. Her daughter reports she was singing “Just a Little Talk with Jesus” with her final breaths.

She met her husband Bob when they both attended Southwestern Assembly of God Seminary in Waxahachie, Texas. They married in 1946 after he was discharged from the U.S. Navy when she was just 17 and they were married for 60 years. They loved singing gospel music together and in their early days of marriage they traveled extensively, providing gospel music for churches, camp meetings and conventions. They also founded and pastored a church together in Gladewater, Texas.

After moving to Arlington, Nancy worked at Sears in personnel for a number of years. She later worked in the housing department at the University of Texas at Arlington from which she retired in 1994.

Nancy loved Jesus and she radiated His love to everyone she met. Because she knew that we are all equal in the eyes of the Lord, she treated everyone the same, with love and respect, from the janitors to the store manager to the president of the university. She loved people, and they loved her back. She was kind, she had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh, and she loved life. Her own life was not without pain, trials and heartache, but she chose to concentrate on the joy of the Lord instead of complaining. She was an earnest Prayer Warrior.

Survived by her daughter and caregiver/roommate, Bobbi Braziel, her daughter, Vickie Schumacher Hancock and her grandsons. Preceded in death by her husband, M. A. “Bob” Braziel, who passed away in 2006 in Huntington Beach, CA from complications of dementia, their son, Clayton A. “Buddy” Braziel of Arlington who passed away in 2004 and their first son, Thomas Carroll Braziel who was stillborn.

Funeral services will be held February 6. 2021 at the chapel in Cleburne, Texas...RosserFH
