Dr. James H. Hays M.D., age 63, of Rosemont, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 from complications following an accident. He was born July 18, 1955, in Pittsburg, Kansas, to Thelma Beasley and Horace Hays, PhD.

Dr. Hays grew up in Pittsburg, Kansas. He graduated from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas, Class of 1977. He earned his M.D. in 1981 from the College of Health Sciences, University of Kansas, Kansas City, Kansas, from 1981 to 1984. He served his internship and residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. From 1984 to 1990, he served in the US Navy. He was stationed at the National Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland, completing a Fellowship in Endocrinology-Metabolism. Upon his discharge, he took the position as an Assistant Professor at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1992 and 1993 he was the Clinical Director, Diabetes and Metabolic Disease Center, Medical Center of Delaware in Wilmington, Delaware. Since 1993, he has had his own private practice in Wilmington, Delaware.

On June 14, 1986 he married in Kansas City, Missouri. He and his wife have made their home in Rosemont, Pennsylvania since 1990. Dr. Hays was a "people person"--involved with his childrens', family, and neighborhood activities. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends on his back deck. He was an avid tennis player; in his earlier years playing for the Haverford Tennis Club. He was a member at the Germantown Cricket Club and the Merion Cricket Club. As the years progressed, his love turned to golf; being a member of Deerfield Country Club in Delaware and Rolling Green Golf Club, Springfield, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Hays is survived by his wife of 32 years, a son, two daughters, three grandchildren, his mother-in-law, his sister-in-law and her husband, and a nephew. He is also survived by his Office Manager Extraordinaire and her family.

His Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday October 20, 2018 at Rolling Green Golf Club, 280 N. State Rd, Springfield, Pennsylvania, followed by a reception to celebrate Dr. Hays' Life.
