Luther Ray Brooks, born March 1, 1934 to Luther Barbee Brooks and Beuna Agnes Ray Brooks passed from this life early in the morning on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Luther grew up in East Texas during the Great Depression as part of a large extended and loving family. He graduated from White Oak High School, spent two years at Texas A&M and served his two years of obligatory service in the Army ski troups. A lifelong devout Christian, he eventually became a Gideon in his retirement years serving many local communities. Luther is survived by his wife, Aleta Joyce Brooks; his son, Keith Ray Brooks; his grandchildren, Mark Ray, Garion Ray, and Leah Michelle Brooks; great-grandchildren, Erron Ray Brooks, Willow Rae Brooks, and Luna Raven Davis; and siblings, Mary Francis Brooks Cato, John Michael Brooks, and Donald Oscar Brooks. He is predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Claudia Danielle Brooks; and two brothers, Kenneth Roberts Brooks and Joseph William Brooks. Graveside Services will be held at Memory Park Cemetery located at 2823 E. Marshall Ave. in Longview, Texas on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 2 p.m. Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview will be handling service arrangements.
