November 19, 1983 - January 30, 2021
Michael Brent Powell, 37, passed away on January 30, 2021 in Spring, TX. Michael was stricken with COVID shortly after the holidays and spent 3 weeks in ICU. An amazing son, brother, cousin, uncle, nephew, grandson, and friend. We are all devastated.
Michael was the oldest son of Lori (Ackermann) Powell and the late Michael Lee Powell. He was a long time Scout Leader in the Sam Houston Area Council. When Michael was in the first grade, Lori enrolled him into Scouts where he had achieved all ranks from Tiger to Eagle. Michael also served in the Order of Arrow where he provided cheerful service in the Houston Community. The Scout Oath and Law continued to be his compass in working with others. He was generous with his time and resources; doing a Good Turn Daily and Random Acts of Kindness were second nature to him.
In addition to his Scouting, Michael had one of the funniest senses of dry humor and kept his friends and family entertained at all gatherings. Likewise, you didn't relish being on the opposite side of him in a debate. He was well read and could easily articulate his points. He was a unique individual who was loved by many.
Survived by his mother, Lori (Ackermann) Powell; brother, Steven Powell and wife, Jeannie; his grandmothers, Ellen Ackermann and Nancy Powell; two nieces, Loren and Raelee Powell; and a number of cousins he loved dearly.
Michael is preceded in death by his father, Michael Powell; and grandfathers, Francis Ackermann and Roland Powell.
