PRINCETON --- Leona Ethel Belcher, 94, of Princeton Health Care, Princeton, formerly of Falls Mills, Va., died on Sunday, April 7, 1996, at Princeton Health Care.
Born on September 21, 1901, in Welch, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Mose and Eliza Green Lane. She had been a resident of Mercer County for 49 years and was a former resident of Kimball, W.Va. She was the last surviving member of her family and was a member of the Sweet Home Old Regular Baptist Church at Princeton. She was the oldest member of the church and was one of the members who formed the church. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Edward Belcher, and two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors; sons, Elder E.C. Belcher of Falls Mills and Clinton J. Belcher of Oxnard, Calif.; daughters, Hazel V. Sizemore of Middlesboro, Ky., and Zelma Marie Novak of Littles Town, Pa.; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 10, 1996, at 2 p.m. at the Elkhorn Old Regular Baptist Church at Belcher Mountain near Welch with Elders Robert Lane, Hersie Lane and Thurman Belcher officiating. Burial will follow at the Belcher Mountain Cemetery at Belcher Mountain near Welch.
Friends may call at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
The body will be taken to the church on Wednesday one hour prior to services where friends may call.
Pallbearers will be Nathan, John, Michael Belcher, Josha, Michael, and Eric Mullins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Delbert, Bernard Mullins and Dillard Landreth.
