On December 15, 2020, Iva Bonnie Albertini passed away surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren after a brief battle with cancer. Iva was born on August 30, 1933 in Claymont, DE. She was a graduate of Claymont High School where she lettered in Women’s Softball. In 2000, after a long career as a legal secretary, Iva and her husband Rocco retired to Lithia, FL to be closer to her children and her growing number of grandchildren. She was quite the storyteller and one of her favorite pass times was to tell her childhood stories to her grandchildren. Shortly before her death she completed her memoirs as a Christmas gift for her grandchildren.
Iva loved to bowl and was a member of the Oakfield Lanes Senior Matinee bowling league.
After Iva and Rocco raised their children, they developed a love for Country music and line dancing as well as taking the opportunity to travel, frequently to ski and dance with their many friends. Even at 87 Iva, MomMom to her grandchildren, still loved to dance and was a hit on the dance floor at her granddaughter’s wedding in September 2020.
Iva was preceded in death by her beloved husband Rocco D. Albertini. She is survived by her sons Todd Weidley (Diane), Timothy Weidley, Tyler Weidley (Jessica), USMC Major General Thomas Weidley (Jill) and her daughter Trisha Waller. She is also survived by her 10 loving grandchildren, Megan, Lauren, Rachel, Timothy, Alexis, Casey, Alexandra, Jenna, Zoe and Max, and 3 great grandchildren.
A private family service was held on December 17, 2020 and her family will be taking Iva home to be interred with her family in Coatesville, PA.
