Dee Anderson
Kingston, Utah
Lieutenant Colonel Austin Dee Anderson, 88, born on August 1, 1932, in Kingston, our brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on February 2, 2021 in Monroe. He was the oldest of four children born to John Austin and Zelma Sudweeks Anderson.
Shortly after graduating from Piute High School, he enlisted in the Air Force, where he retired after nearly 25 years of honorable service. He served in many different capacities, including as a navigator, pilot, and instructor at the Air Force Academy, and lived in many different locations around the world. He spoke often of his travels and journeys while in the Air Force, and always had an entertaining story to tell about them. He married his sweetheart and the love of his life, Barbara Larsen, on August 26, 1957. Together, they built a wonderful life and did much good among their families and friends. While they were unable to have children of their own, they had many dogs and cats that were treated as no less than family, and even better in some cases. In addition to their pets, they also purchased farm ground upon their return home to Kingston, and Dee proudly raised purebred Charolais cattle for many years of his retirement. Sadly, Barbara preceded him in death, but we have no doubt that they are reunited and once again enjoying their travels in the skies.
On behalf of the family, we want to express our most sincere gratitude to the staff at Monroe Canyon Assisted Living Center, as they worked tirelessly to ensure that Dee received the best care possible during the closing years of his life. Their love, compassion, and friendship to Dee was always far above the call of duty.
He is survived by his siblings: LaKay Holman, Barbara Wayman, and Nuel (Melanee) Anderson; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers-in-law: William Holman, Von Wayman.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 8, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, where friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with military honors by the V.F.W. Sevier Post #5050 and Air Force Honor Guard. Live streaming of the service and online guestbook can be found at www.maglebymortuary.com under Dee’s obituary.
