Rita Rose (Wienczkowski) Skladanowski, age 92, of Erie passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021. She was born in Erie on July 22, 1928 a daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Szymanowski) Wienczkowski.
Rita was a member of St. George Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Rosary Society. She was the “Rosarian of the Year” in 1991. She took part in Cursillo #100.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Kenneth J. Skladanowski in 2014, a brother Leonard Wienczkowski and an infant brother Walter Wienczkowski.
Rita is survived by her beloved husband of 72 years, Walter V. Skladanowski, Jr.; her children, Lawrence Skladanowski, wife Tennie of Greensboro, NC, Michael Skladanowski, wife Karen of Charlotte, NC, Martin Skladanowski, wife Lori of Waterford and Kathleen Bowden of Erie; a daughter in law, Cynthia Skladanowski of Fairview, nine grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson, husband Eric, Jillian Wellington, husband Robert, Bret Skladanowski, Blake Skladanowski, Megan Borowy, husband Michael, Mitchell Skladanowski, wife Amy, Maria Skladanowski, Kyle Bowden and Amy Bowden; and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Frank Wienczkowski, Jr., wife Agnes and Robert Wienczkowski, wife Wanda and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street. A funeral mass will be held on Monday at 10 am at St. George Church, 5145 Peach Street. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. All COVID restrictions will apply.
