"Seneca Falls -- Oscar H. Gower, 79, retired painter, of 12 Prospect St., died yesterday (July 23, 1949) in the Seneca Falls Hospital following an illness of several weeks.
Mr. Gower was born in Canandaigua and had lived here for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anna Gower; a son, Raymond O. Gower of Bridgeport, Conn.; two stepchildren, Clinton Peterham of Seneca Falls and Mrs. Gertrude Plotz of Niagara Falls; and a granddaughter, Mrs. Freda Deal of Seneca Falls.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Sanderson Funeral Home, 32 State St., by the Rev. Harold S. Knight of Clark Mills, supply rector of Trinity Episcopal Church with burial in Restvale Cemetery." Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, July 24, 1949
