Raised in Inman, SC; was a truck driver by trade who loved driving and enjoyed various special stops for barbecue across the country. He loved working on cars and working with wood projects. He made what he needed to suit the way he wanted it to be. He was a jack of all trades. He treasured his family above all earthly possessions.
He was of the Baptist faith and attended Beulah Baptist Church in Tryon, NC.
Survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Brenda Waddell Gilbert; daughters, Rebecca Mistler (Keith) and Sabrina Kilpatrick (Vernon); grandchildren: Caitlin Kilpatrick and Tristan Mistler; siblings, Ron Gilbert, Sr. (Carolyn), Donnie Gilbert, Gwen Ogburn, Ellen Guffey (Carroll), Alvin Gilbert (Glenda), Robert Gilbert (Kathy), Darryl Gilbert, and Amy Gilbert.; and one loving little cat, Sophie.
Predeceased also by brothers, Walter Harvey Gilbert, Jr. (8 Dec 1955 – 14 Mar 2014) and Joseph Kyle Gilbert (15 Aug 1967 – 23 Mar 2020).
