Mrs. Charles Sankey, 73, Volant RD 1, the former Susie McConnell, died in her home at 1:30 a.m. today after an illness of one year which resulted from a stroke.
Born in Mercer County, Sept. 1, 1884, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Welker McConnell.
She was preceded by her husband Oct. 13, 1952.
Mrs. Sankey was a life resident of the community and was a member of the Leesburg Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are one son Harry Sankey Volant RD 1; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Leora) Coates, Volant; Mrs. William (Edna) Gilkey, Beaver Falls; Mrs. Raymond D. (Claribel) Cunningham, New Castle; brothers, J. Frank McConnell, New Castle; Harry McConnell, Grove City; Rev. James McConnell, Keswick Grove, N. J.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Cunningham Funeral Home, Leesburg, with Rev. William A. Lloyd in charge. Interment will follow in Volant Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7-9 and tomorrow from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
