Clifford "Cliff" M. Roe, age 79 of Joplin, passed away suddenly at his home Sunday, October 14, 2007.
Born November 16, 1927 in Joplin, he was the son of the late Alfred "A. J." Jones Roe and Martha Amanda (Scysom) Roe and was a lifelong Joplin resident. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1945, served in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1983 as Superintendent of Postal Operations after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Retired Postal Worker's Association, Joplin Elk's Lodge No. 501 and the Audubon Society.
Cliff married the love of his life, Sherry Marie (Lea) Flynn DuRall Roe, who preceded him in death on June 26, 2006. Together they raised two sons and two daughters. He was a most fair and honorable man and will be greatly missed by his surviving children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, René DuRall. Four sisters and a brother also preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Flynn and wife LuAnn and Tony DuRall and one daughter, Michele Graham and husband Randy, all of Joplin; a brother, John Roe and wife Marion of Fullerton, CA; six grandchildren, Tyler and Tara Flynn, Regan Seward, Ami Richardson, Hannah and Aaron DuRall and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17th at Osborne Memorial Cemetery with sons and grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
