Arlis Gene Hicks, age 70, of Harrison, went to be with his Heavenly Father, Thursday, Oct. 11 (2007).

The son of Lexie L. and Virgie E. (Flippo) Hicks was born April 18, 1937, at Parthenon.

Arlis was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a loving husband and father. Musically talented and witty, he was a man who never met a stranger. He was a mechanic and auto body man, as well as a self-proclaimed, "piddler" who never found anything he couldn't fix. He was also a man of integrity and honesty, and was a member of Batavia Assembly of God where he was known as their "sound man."

His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife, Fayetta (Carnahan) Hicks of the home; daughters, Etta Logan and Earleen Hicks, both of Charlotte, N.C. and Marsha Carter and her husband Byron and their son, Colby of Harrison; brothers, Howard Hicks and Harold Hicks, both of Harrison; and sisters, Alice Renfroe, Sharon Taylor and Brenda Bogue, all of Harrison.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, with service at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison with Rev. Tollie Sutterfield officiating. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Byron Carter, David Hicks, Craig Hicks, Harold Hicks, Howard Hicks, Richard Bogue, James Taylor, J.R. Renfroe, Jaime Taylor, Colby Carter and John Berry. Honorary pallbearers include Terry Faulkenberry, Bob Womack, Tollie J. Sutterfield, Jim Blackwell, Louis Melton, Archie Carter, Dirley Wynn, John Arnold, Jodi Arnold, Duard Lewis, Ernest Ramsey, James Thompson, Steve Cavender, Bob Myers, Richie Myers, Aubrey Johnson, Dr. Blake Chitsey, Dr. Charles Klepper and the congregation of Batavia Assembly of God.
