She was the daughter of Raymond Shute Deese and Harriet Carrie Porter. She moved to Indian Trail at a young age where she lived until she married her husband, Harry Lesel Rast. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years and 8 brothers and sisters. She retired from the Presbyterian Hospital and was a member of Caldwell Memorial Presbyterian Church for 61 years where she held many offices. She and Harry married 14 Feb 1937 in Charlotte, NC. They had 3 sons and 1 daughter.
