Ruth was one of the 12 children of Hannah Gager and Daniel Brewster. She married John Forbes in Preston on 14 January 1718. Their daughter, Mary Gager Forbes, born 16 June 1721, married Johnathan Smith, born in Derby CT on 21 May 1716. They were married on 17 March 1742 in Preston.
