Perry Name Meaning
Welsh: Anglicized form of Welsh ap Herry ‘son of Herry’, a variant of Harry (see Harris). English: topographic name for someone who lived near a pear tree, Middle English per(r)ie (Old English pyrige, a derivative of pere ‘pear’). This surname and a number of variants have been established in Ireland since the 17th century.
------------------------------------------

Elisha married 1st to Mattie A. Moore 5-16-1891 in Lauderdale Co. Al, they had 2 children James Jasper Perry & Hannah Perry.

He married 2nd to Willard Slyvesta Oldham 12-13-1903 in Lauderdale Co. Al.

The 1940 Lauderdale County census list Doris Lura as adopted with the surname Williams living with Elisha & Willard.
(Perry family stories are confusing but we know that Doris was given to Uncle Birdus "Bird" Perry for adoption but he was not allowed to adopt her because he was single. GrandPa & GrandMa took her in & raised her as one of their own but she was not legally adopted.
We don't know what year that was. The story is that she also had a brother. We don't know what happened to him. They also had a daughter Irma Lee Williams, born 1936 who was raised by the Powers family.
We believe that Minnie died during child birth with Irma & Milton gave both children up for adoption. The great depression was a horrendous time many people starved to death.)

According to early census records Elisha was born in 1873 his tombstone says 1872. His borther J.J. Was born August 1, 1872 according to his tombstone.
