I'm making this memorial for my handsome husband Roger of almost 48 years. I fell in love with him the second time I met him, first time I thought he looked like a hick for he had on faded jeans, a cowboy shirt and Western boots, lol....Roger had no other children other than our son, Roger Woods II...Roger was one of the kindest people I ever knew, he liked everyone, don't think he ever met a stranger, he loved us and wanted us to have a good life so he worked hard and steadily to that goal...
Roger didn't want to be buried in a hole in the ground, he didn't want to be cremated so he made me promise to have his body donated to science for research he hoped for Cancer which he battled 3 different times before it finally took his life.
The most special thing Roger did for me was he used to buy me a card for every occasion, he would put it at my desk so I would find it the next morning, it was so special he would take time out of his busy life running a business to stop and buy me a Birthday, Valentine or Anniversary card for me.
Roger was born in Hollandale, Mississippi but never lived there, his parents were living in Greenville, Washington, Mississippi when he was born, he mostly grew up in Greenville with living for a small period of time in surrounding Cities. He attended Greenville schools but his best memories were going to Greenville High School. Roger was friends with many of his School classmates on Facebook, he loved corresponding with them...
Roger started working on the Gas Pipeline along with his Dad when he was age 18 thru a Pipeline Union in Oklahoma. he also worked odd jobs when pipeline jobs weren't available such as on a River barge, Oil Drilling rigs, etc.
Roger moved to Memphis, TN in early 1972 where we met thru his Aunt, he started working for Coleman Taylor Transmissions of Memphis at the Whitehaven location. He managed CT shops for over 40 years in Memphis, TN, Bellaire, TX and lastly a shop in Nashville, TN. He retired in early 2014 and truly didn't know what to do with himself, he discovered Facebook and he loved it, he loved corresponding and had many friends, if he knew their name or they were friends of someone he knew he would send them a friend invite, lol...
He started planning our retirement as to where we were going, we bought a motor home and hit the road, one trip was to DC which we thoroughly enjoyed, we ended up wishing we had stayed longer, we made some trips to North Carolina, Mississippi and Florida to visit family.
Roger was the LOVE of my Life and he is my Forever, no one could ever take his place, thru Jesus I believe we will be together again one day.
