Melvin C. Wood, 93, of Baytown, Texas, passed away on February 8, 2021. He was born in Waterville, Maine on January 19, 1928 to Kirby and Eva Wood. He was married to Joyce E. Wood for 70 years. Melvin had a passion for computers, reading and genealogy. Melvin served 24 years in the military.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served on the U.S.S. Belleau Wood during World War II. He then joined the U.S. Army in 1946. After the U.S. Army he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950 where he served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1968 after having served 18 years.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce E. Wood; Son, Michael K. Wood; Daughters, Eva L. Clayton and Kimberly D. Price; Sister, Diane Connelly of Cape Cod, MA; Grandsons, Don Clayton, Cody Clayton, Christopher Cornelius, Gauge Guerrero and Abel Guerrero; Great Grandchildren, Catie Clayton, Kinley Clayton, Jackson Clayton, Malachi Clayton, Celene Cornelius and Cillian Cornelius.

A Committal Service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Rd. Baytown, Texas 77521.
