WARRENVILLE, S.C. - Entered into rest Saturday, April 28, 2001, Mr. Ray Levins Bates Jr., age 59, of Warrenville, S.C., son of the late Levins Ray Bates Sr. and Edna Kaney Bates. He is survived by six daughters, Shannon Brittingham, Augusta, Ga., Tammy Goddard, Martinez, Ga., Sellece Gottschalk, Sheboygan, Wis., Nadina Bates, Columbia, S.C., Tiffany Bates and Brandy Bates, both of Sheboygan, Wis.; two sons, Andy Bates, Appling, Ga., and Derrick Bates, both of Duluth, Ga.; three brothers, Terry Bates and Gary Bates, both of Warrenville, S.C., and Tommy Bates, Clearwater, S.C.; a sister, Gail Baker, Warrenville, S.C.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Bates was born in Warrenville, S.C., and had spent his lifetime here. He worked as a millwright for Austin Industrial in Augusta, Ga., and was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Gloverville, S.C. The Vigil for the deceased will be conducted at 6:30 this evening, Sunday, April 29, 2001, at Napier Funeral Home Chapel, Graniteville, S.C. with Deacon Bob Waters celebrant. The family will receive friends immediately following the service from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2001, in the Langley Cemetery, Langley, S.C., with Deacon Bob Waters officiating. The family will also receive friends at the residence of his brother, Terry Bates, 139 Justin St., Warrenville, S.C.
