Joan Irene Houston, 66, of Springfield passed away at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2002, at her residence. Joan was born on October 6, 1935 the daughter of Victor and Marcella Giacometti Fabro in Springfield. She married Harvey Houston on March 2, 1957 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on August 3, 1993.

Mrs. Houston retired from St. John's Hospital. She had been a past President, Vice President and Treasurer of the Fairview Youth Athletic Association. She was a past Eucharistic Minister Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, a member of the Lanphier Wrestler's Boosters Club and the Associate Firefighters of Illinois Auxiliary. She did volunteer work at St. John's Breadline as well.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and her son, Wayne A. Houston. She is survived by two sons: Cary (wife, Kim) Houston of Springfield, Mark (wife, Sandra) Houston of Chatham; two daughters: Angela Houston of Springfield, Marcella (husband, Kelly) Hughes of Salem, OR; one brother: Ron (wife, Helen) Fabro of Springfield; one daughter-in-law: Alta Houston of Springfield; eight grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Concelebrated Funeral Mass at St. James Catholic Church in Riverton with Very Reverend John Renken V.G. and Very Reverend Kenneth Steffen celebrants. Burial in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
