Elmer Kohr Jr., 93, of Lebanon died Thursday February 4th after a brief illness. He was the husband of Doris Kohr to whom he was married for 40 years.

Born in Lebanon on August 23, 1927 he was the son of the late Lillian and Elmer Kohr.

Elmer was a 1945 graduate of Lebanon High School and upon graduation was immediately drafted into the United States Army. After graduating first in his class at radio school he became a member of the 3164th signal corps. He was shipped out for a tour of duty to Saipan where he served as a switchboard operator and was honorably discharged in 1947.

Upon his discharge from the Army he returned to Lebanon to begin a long career with the San Giorgio Company (later Hershey Pasta) starting in the sauce production plant. In his 46-year career with the company Elmer held many positions finally retiring as a production supervisor in 1991. He was very well liked and respected by all who worked with him.

In his retirement he enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his wife "upstate" primarily in their camper at the Petticoat Junction Campground in the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. He was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church.

Elmer is survived by his wife Doris (Brandt) Kohr as well as one brother Dennis Kohr of Reading ,three daughters, Debbie wife of Chris Allwein of Lebanon, Donna Dove of Palmyra and Kathy Kohr of Palmyra as well as one stepson Scott Houser, husband of Cathy (Hordendorf) of Annville. 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six siblings, three brothers and three sisters as well as a stepson, Steven Houser of Annville.

Memorial services will be held on Friday February 19th at the Roland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St. Lebanon. Visitation will be held from 11:30 to 12:00, followed by a memorial service from 12:00 to 12:30. Inurnment to follow at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
