WILMINGTON David Warren Allen, 87, died Saturday March 11, 2017 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center. David was born on December 14, 1929 in Greensboro, NC. He was the third son of Sidney Broaddus Allen, Sr. and Jessie Brandt Allen. David was known for his generous nature and loving heart, and he enjoyed a long and full life. David attended Woodbury Forest School in Orange, VA and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he joined the Deke fraternity, graduating with the class of 1952 with a BA in English. Following college, he served in the Air Force in Trier, Germany. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, David went to work for Guilford Mortgage Company in Greensboro and was president of Allen Realty Company until his retirement in 2015. He lived in Greensboro until moving to Wilmington to be near his children and grandchildren in August 2015. David was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leon Brandt Allen. David is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sena Nance Allen and children Katherine Nance Allen, Sena Allen Preziosi and husband Christian, and David Warren Allen, Jr., all residing in Wilmington, NC. Also surviving are his brother, Sidney B. Allen, Jr. and wife Mary N. Allen; sister, Jessie Allen Sellars Ogburn; grandsons, Samuel Brandt Preziosi and Andre Liam Preziosi; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 18 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Greensboro, NC. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
