Succumbs at 73

Leland S Phillips, 2116 16th avenue , died last night at 7:30 at his home following a coronary occlusion.
He was born in Cadiz Township March 26 1883 the son of John and Mary Brown Phillips. On Dec. 24, 1913, he was married in Freeport to Emma Clark, following their marriage they farmed for several years in Cadiz Township , and in 1938 they moved to Monroe where he was employed by Fairbanks Morse for 11 years .
He is survived by his wife ; two daughters Mrs. Elmer Smithson , St, Paul, Minn ; Mrs. LeRoy Andrews Beloit; six sons , Charles , Ernie , and Gene all of Monroe , Wilbert, Roscoe, Ill; Glen , Orangeville, Alvie , Delafield ; six brothers , Earl , Howard , and Harold , Argyle , Roy , Janesville, Alvin , Blanchardville ; Morgan , Monticello ; five sisters , Mrs. Joe Kohn and Mrs. Fred Rabe Winslow . Ill ; Mrs. Nettie Johnson and Mrs. Frank Shippy , Monroe ; Mrs. Oliver Zettle Orangeville.Ill
29 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was Preceded in death by his by his parents one son and several brothers and sisters .
Services will be at 3:15 Wednesday at Shriner- Neushwander funeral home with
Rev. Paul C Kehle officiating . Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery
