Daniel Clifton Smith, 63 of Shiloh/Manchester passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Upson Regional Medical Center, Thomaston. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Cox Funeral Home, Manchester with Dr. Bob Patterson officiating.
Entombment will follow in Upson Memorial Garden with Charlie Crowder, Brian Turner, Ernie Braddy, Ricky Wilkinson, Ken Brown and Bart Bridges serving as pallbearers. Public viewing will be at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm.
Daniel was born August 10, 1957 in Waycross, the son of the late Hollis Daniel Smith and Reddon Sweat Smith. His family moved to Thomaston to open the first Big Chic Restaurant in 1971 and he attended Upson County High School. He worked at Big Chic from the beginning until his recent illness.
He married Vicki Fuller in 1976, and in 1977 he and Vicki moved to Manchester to manage the restaurant here. Daniel attended Warm Springs First Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, but most of all, he loved time with his family and his close friends.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Jerry Smith.
Survivors include wife, Vicki of Shiloh; his mother, Reddon Smith of Thomaston; two sons, Chad Smith (Jennifer) of Manchester and Chase Smith of Manchester; one brother, Tony Smith (Dana) of Griffin; four grandchildren, Addie Smith of Manchester, Austin Key of Manchester, Ridge Creamer of Manchester and Graci Smith of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Cookie Smith of Thomaston and several nieces and nephews.
