John, a child of Justus and Hephzibah [Nichols] Burr; husband of Huldah [Smith] (1761-1822); grandson of CAPT John and Catherine [Wakeman] Burr; Father of Wakeman, Lucy, Anson, Phoebe, Lucretia, Rebecca, Maria, George and Walter Smith Burr.

John, wife Huldah and children left Fairfield county Connecticut The Burr family farm was in southern Malta township, Saratoga County New York and was about 150 acres,made up of 3 parcels. The first was purchased in 1795. In addition, he owned at one time another lot of some 120 +/-acres that was east of Dunning St. (info acquired by cousin Scott P. of Saratoga Co NY)

Will of John Burr, Book 6, pages 391-393, Malta,Saratoga County New York: eldest son Wakeman Burr, second son Ansen Burr, eldest daughter Lucy Waterbury, second daughter Phebe Burr, third daughter Lucretia Burr, youngest sons George and Walter S. Burr; George Burr, Lewis Waterbury and Abijah Hubbell executors dated 24 May 1825; proved 18 August 1825.

NOTE: Eldest son Wakeman born about 1785, died about 1830, Yates Co NY was married to Mary Baldwin. Fellow researchers Erika Frawley and Scott Pierce has been so helpful in assisting me in compiling our BURR family lineage. Sadly, final resting place of Wakeman and his wife Mary Baldwin Burr have yet to be found.

Eldest daughter Lucy and husband Lewis Waterbury are both buried in East Line Union Cemetery, Saratoga Co New York; however no dates of death available at this time. Lewis & Lucy Waterbury were listed as "heirs at law" of Walter Burr of Malta, county of Saratoga, deceased,longhand document copy recorded 7 Aug 1857, signed Lewis and Lucy Waterbury. As they do not appear in census of 1860, their deaths occurred sometime after August 1857 and before January 1860.
