Elmer G. "Bud" Poehlman, 77, of Clarks Summit, died Wednesday at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton.
He was the husband of Marjorie White Poehlman. The couple had been married for 57 years.
Born in Mill City, son of the late Elmer and Elsie Andres Poehlman, he was an Air Force veteran.
Before retirement, he was a field engineer and program manager for ITT Corp. in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was in charge of building and supporting electronic command and control systems for the Strategic Air Command and Strategic Command of the Air Force. After his retirement in 1997, he moved to Clarks Summit. He was a member of the Waverly Lodge 301 F&AM and the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church. Bud was known to many of his friends as George, and he would frequently write letters to the editor of The Scranton Times.
Also surviving are a son, Mark, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; a daughter, Ruth Jacobson and husband, Terry, Westfield; three grandchildren, Kylee and William Jacobson and Timothy Poehlman; a sister, Dorothy Galloway, Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffery Poehlman; and a brother, Norman Poehlman.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Judith Adams, pastor.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
Friends may call Saturday from 12:30 until the time of the service at the church.
