Mr. Emmett Taft Cook Jr., age 66 of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018 with his loving family by his side.

Mr. Cook was born on June 21, 1952 to the late Mr. Emmett & Lillie M (Suit) Cook Sr. in Jacksonville, Florida.

Mr. Cook proudly served our country in the United States Army. After his service, he went on to work as a fabricator, a career in which he spent many years. He dedicated several years to Alton Lift in Jasper, Georgia. He also worked for Zybac for some time. He was well known for his hard working qualities.

When Mr. Emmett had free time away from his work, his love was for motorcycles. He enjoyed riding with his wife, his favorite ride being 'Tail of the Dragon' in Tennessee, a well known motorcycle route. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. Mr. Emmett was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was a devout Christian and a member of Center Cross Community Church in Valdosta.

Mr. Cook had been a resident of Valdosta for the last year, but prior to that he had spent 30 years in Tennessee.

Mr. Cook is suvived by his loving wife of 36 years, Mrs. Janell Cook of Valdosta; sons: Michael (Regina) Cook of St. George, Christopher Cook of St. George, and Chadwick Cook of Middleburg; step-sons: Chad Warner of Blue Ridge, Georgia and Gary Warner of Green Cove Springs; step-daughter: Tammy Hobson of Green Cove Springs; brothers: W.H. Cook of Jacksonville, Dennis Cook of Blue Ridge, Georgia, and Dempsey Cook of Turtle Town, Tennessee; sisters: Gail Sitton of Chatworth, Georgia and Jewel Deal of Blue Ridge, Georgia; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Larry Cook, Robert Cook, Jimmy Cook, and Johnny Cook; and sisters: Doris Dean and Linda Phillips.

A Celebration of Mr. Emmett's Life will be held Monday, November 26, 2018 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery, Macclenny where military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 10:00 am on Monday. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny.
