While in prison from 1905 to 1909, Bennie received letters from his SISTER, called Georgia Johnson and Mrs. Haron Johnson at 811 Brooklyn Street and other Kansas

City, Missouri addresses. The Brooklyn Street address was apparently her husband's permanent home as Haron Johnson appears in the 1907 Kansas City Directory as residing here. Georgie was apparently living in Los Angeles the last few years of her life. She may have sent a pack of letters to Haron for distribution to Bennie and others.

A William Johnson, who lived with Georgie Johnson at 546 Aliso Street, Los Angeles is a possible son as he was the informant on her 1909 death certificate.

As Georgie died three months before her father Bass Reeves, she does not appear as an heir in his 1910 estate. The list of heirs is as follows:

Winnie Reeves, wife.

Sallie Sanders, daughter.

Alice M. Spahn, daughter.

Bennie Reeves, son.

Ed Reeves, son.

Mary Reeves, granddaughter.

Rocher Reeves, grandson.

For some reason Georgie was identified as a male on the 1870 and 1880 U.S. Census. This may have been the enumerator's confusion with the child's name or maybe odd typos.

Contemporary sources state that Bass Reeves was the father of five girls, which is corroborated by Alice Reeves Spahn.

"Notice"

Bass Reeves had six documented boys and five documented girls with his first wife that can

be found in the 1870, 1880 and 1900 U.S. Census. Over the years, people apparently outside

of the Bass Reeves Family have added others through confusion, misinformation and little documentation on findagrave (most removed) and other genealogy websites. A case in point, the William Reeves (born 1877 in OK.) attached to Bass and his first wife by Judy Young has no census or any other corroborated connection to the U.S. deputy marshal.
