Bart came to America with his parents August and Magdalena Anderson from Sweden, leaving one sister there. They settled in Mountain Grove, Missouri, where he met and married Mary Jane Ussery in 1895. they moved to Colorado in 1899 and lived there the rest of their lives. Bart was the caretaker of the Hillside Cemetery in his later years.
