He served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He was a machine gunner on the USS Oyster Bay. After the war, he worked at R.R. Donnelley and Sons of Chicago for 40 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Downers Grove for more than 40 years.
He is survived by four children, Gregory (wife Elizabeth Day) Onorato of Danbury, Conn., Douglas (wife Marsha) Onorato of Downers Grove, David (wife Karen) Onorato of Naperville and Karen (husband Raymond) Muellner of Plano; seven grandchildren, Matt, Dan, Megan, Zia, Nick, Kendra and Anthony; and a sister, Marion Kinsella of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Eleanore (Wolnik); his parents, Guyatono and Ethel Onorato; and a brother, Richard Onorato.
Family and friends gathered for a memorial service Friday, July 30, at Belmont Bible Church in Downers Grove. The Rev. Ron Brown officiated.
