Virginia “Ginny” Colohan, age 85 entered into rest on Friday, February 19, 2021.
Ginny was born in Long Branch, New Jersey to the late Michael David Garofalo and Carmela Gizzi Garofalo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Matthew Colohan, Sr,; children, Paul Matthew Colohan, Jr., and Karen Courter; granddaughter, Alexis Colohan-Cannon; and siblings, Marie Armstrong, Nora Garrabrant, and Joy Garofalo.
Following retirement from the Augusta Chronicle, Ginny took full advantage of life by traveling all over the world with various senior groups. She loved traveling and playing cards but loved nothing more than her family. She loved the Lord and was active through the years at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church and St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia Bessman of Augusta, Michael Colohan (Suzanne) of Laurel, Maryland, Stephen Colohan, (Alicia) of Martinez, Richard Colohan (Cathy) of Martinez, Kelly Colohan (Renee) of Bloomfield, Michigan, and Jean Hudson (Scott) of Augusta; brothers and sister, Andrew Garofalo, Neptune, New Jersey, Claire Romani (Donald) of El Paso, Texas, and Michael Garofalo (Diane) of Neptune, New Jersey; eighteen grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral mass will take place at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Father Vernon Knight officiating.
Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
