Richard E. Plummer died at his home here Monday morning near 1 o'clock of heart failure after several weeks of suffering.
He leaves a wife, three sons, one daughter, one stepson and a number of grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren besides other relatives.
He joined the M. E. church several years ago but on account of bad health was not able to attend church very often, but his home was a place where the pastor always found a welcome and the evening before he died the pastor and Uncle Dick had a long conversation and he asked the pastor to preach his funeral discourse when he died assisted by Rev. Norman of Bedford.
Uncle Dick was feeling better and was sitting on his front porch while in conversation never dreaming that death was so near.
His funeral was largely attended at the M. E. church Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, after which he was taken to the Brown cemetery near Fostoria and laid to rest.
His age was 80 years, nine months and a few days.
He served in the war of '61 and was one of our old soldiers, there being only two left in our town.
