Jack, as he was fondly called by his family and friends was born on July 1, 1940 to the late Virginia (Murdaugh) Kearse and Herman B. Kearse in Olar, South Carolina. Jack was married to the love of his life, C. Rose "Harris" Kearse. They celebrated 54 years of marriage in June 2020. Jack enjoyed the love and admiration of his 3 children.
At an early age, Jack and his family moved to York, Pennsylvania. Jack attended the York City School District, graduating in the Class of 1959 from William Penn Senior High School. Shortly after graduation, Jack joined the U. S. Marine Corp. where he proudly served for four years.
Jack was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved the Philadelphia Eagles. In his earlier years, he played basketball in high school and community softball for the Jets. He also enjoyed reading his newspaper from cover to cover.
In 1979, Jack joined the Shiloh Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Rev. R. J. Manning where he served as a member of the Trustee Board, Finance & Budget, and the Pulpit Committee. Jack was a diligent and faithful worker in these capacities. He always put God first in his decision-making.
On September 13, 2009, Jack became one of the founding members of his son's church, Cornerstone Baptist Church. He again used his skills serving on the Trustee Board. He served in this capacity with trustworthiness and honor. Jack had received many awards for his achievements and efforts during this time as a Trustee and Budget Planner. Jack was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #42.
Jack loved spending time with his family, especially his brothers. His laughter was contagious. He had a genuine love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved showering them with gifts at Christmas time.
Herman "Jack" Kearse leaves to mourn his loss and cherish his memories; his wife; one daughter; two sons from York ; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four brothers all of York; And a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other friends.
Preceding in his death; mother and father Virginia and Herman Kearse; siblings Harry Kearse, Mary Leonard, Michael Kearse, Deborah Kearse, Samuel Kearse, and Helen Kearse Thomas.
