"Frederick A. Welk, 44, died unexpectedly Thursday at his home in Two Harbors. Born in Greenfield, Wis., he had been employed as a hostler with the Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range Railway Co. since 1930. He was a member of the Moose lodge and the International Brotherhood of Fireman and Oilers. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Bethlehem Lutheran church, Two Harbors, with the Rev. Archi Lovaas officiating. Interment was in Lakeview cemetery, Two Harbors. Mr. Welk is survived by his wife, Caroline; three children, Kathleen, Susan and Margaret Ann; his mother, Mrs. Marie Ferguson, Two Harbors; a sister, Mrs. Leon Miller, Baraboo, Wis., and a brother, Leo, Two Harbors. Mrs. Welk is the former Caroline Petrich of Eveleth and is the grand-daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Petrich of this city."
