Mae was born in Telkwa on May 7, 1926, the third born child of Herbert and Lavenna Giddings. She spent her life in the Telkwa, Quick and Houston areas. Always active in church as well as knitting and sewing while watching the Canucks and Blue Jays. She will be remembered for her love of animals and children.
Mae was predeceased in December 2000 by her husband of 53 years, Ed Olson; her sons Kelly in 1987, James in 2001 and daughter Marj. in 2009; brothers, Ed Giddings, Harry Giddings and sister Eleanor McDivitt. She is survived by her children: Jerry of Smithers, Wilfred (Elaine) of Houston, Doreen (Bob) of Hinton, AB, Dorothy (Glenn) of Houston, Johnny (Bridget) of Smithers and Jayne of Smithers, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings Charlie Giddings, Margaret Kerr and Shirley Connelly.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 26th at 1:00 pm in the Mountain View Assembly Church in Smithers. Burial will take place in the Telkwa Cemetery, with a Tea to follow in the church basement. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Northwest Animal Shelter, PO Box 3064, Smithers, V0J 2N0 or to an SPCA of your choice.
