Mimi was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on December 19, 1940. She passed away at Antelope Valley Hospital in San Bernardino County, California, on January 25, 2021, two weeks after suffering a devastating brain aneurysm. She was the loving wife of William (Bill) Swift for almost 50 years before he passed in 2018. After Mimi and Bill moved from La Habra to Lancaster in 1972, she went to work for Palmdale School District as Assistant to the Superintendent for 30 years, retiring in 2002. A longtime resident of Wrightwood from 1990 through 2018, she moved back to Lancaster to be closer to her children: Laurie (David) Woolery, Dan (Joyce) Swift, David (Shannon) Swift, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

As a child, she came to America to join the family of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, an event that changed her life dramatically, and she always felt it was important to "give back". Most people who knew her were recipients in some way of her generous heart. Her family has received many heartfelt expressions of love for her, messages of joy at knowing her, and sorrow at losing her. May she always be remembered as a woman who loved fiercely, cared deeply, prayed daily, gave generously, spoke sweetly, and smiled radiantly. She will be missed by family and friends tremendously, but we are rejoicing that she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and we will see her again.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and family and friends from all over the country and even the world there will be a virtual service posted online by Palmdale Vineyard on March 7. The Mimi Swift Memorial Fund for Hope of the Valley can be accessed at pvlife.org/give.

***** The Mountaineer Progress article on February 4, mentioned that Mimi will be interred at the Sunset Hills Memorial in Apple Valley. In fact, Mimi's ashes were scattered in the Pacific Ocean near her husband Bill's gravesite.
