Bartlett - Henry L. Boyd, Sr. of Bartlett, Tennessee, age 96, passed away on February 13, 2021. Born in Memphis, Tennessee to parents Tom and Annie Boyd, Henry was a graduate of Memphis Technical High School. A member of the Greatest Generation, Henry served as a Staff Sgt. in the Army Air Corps and completed 31 missions as a ball turret gunner on a B-24 during WWII. Henry retired as a meat cutter at Kroger, was a 62+ year member of the Scottish Rite Masons (Masonic Fraternity Bartlett Lodge 211), a member of the Bartlett Super Seniors, an avid round dancer and founded the Bartlett Chapter of the Forever Young Veterans. He was a member of St. Philips Episcopal Church where he attended the Men's Club. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 79 years, Hester, just 9 days earlier. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Boyd McDevitt (P.T.) as well as 5 brothers and sisters. Henry leaves his son, Henry L. Boyd, Jr. (Donna) and daughter, Vicki Boyd, both residents of Bartlett, 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, and Ouiser. Services will be Friday, March 5th at 2:00 at St. Phillips Episcopal Church with burial at Memphis Memory Gardens to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Forever Young Senior Veterans, or the charity of the donors choice.
